Income Protection
You get injured on Saturday, fall off a ladder on Monday, or come down with something that keeps you off work for months. When does the money stop? Income protection pays a monthly benefit while you're unable to work through illness or injury — arranged around how you're actually paid, whether that's match fees, a day rate, or a salary.
Work out the gap first — it's your own two numbers, and it takes ten seconds.
Salary, self-employed profit — anything that stops when you do.
£450 × 12 weeks = £5,400
Around 50–60% of your earnings — the usual shape of an income protection policy.
What these figures are The first is arithmetic on the two numbers you typed: your weekly playing income multiplied by the weeks you selected. The second shows the proportion of earnings this kind of cover is generally built to replace, applied to your own figure. Neither is a quote, an estimate, or a statement of what any policy would pay you. What you'd actually be offered depends on the insurer, your job, your health and the waiting period you choose — that's a conversation, not a sum.
A monthly benefit while you can't earn
Income protection pays a monthly benefit while you are unable to work through illness or injury, on terms set by the insurer. What "unable to work" means depends on how you earn — for a footballer or rugby player it usually means unable to train or play, for a tradesperson it means off the tools, and the policy needs to reflect that rather than assume a standard desk job.
Whether income protection is suitable for you, and at what level, is a conversation about your contract, your club and how you're actually paid. We introduce and arrange; we don't advise on this website and nothing here is a quotation.
- Cover shaped around how you're actually paid — match fees, contract pay and sponsorship for players, day rate for trades, or a standard salary.
- Options for semi-professional and professional players, self-employed tradespeople paid by the day, and salaried employees.
- Introduced through insurers on our panel — terms, exclusions and eligibility are theirs, not ours.
If the number above looked uncomfortable, that's the conversation worth having.

We ask what you do, how you're paid, and what would happen if you stopped. There is no obligation and nothing is sold on that call.
